Rollie Mukherjee

Rollie Mukherjee is an artist and art critic. She has participated in a number of group shows and solo shows held in India and abroad. Rollie has been a regular contributor in various art and poetry journals and is also the research editor of The Baroda pamphlet, a bi-monthly on art and culture Her artistic engagement with the socio-political situation in the Kashmir valley started years ago and resulted in a corpus of several dozen paintings and drawings, for which she would be in close contact with artists, journalists and civil society groups in Kashmir. Most closely she worked with the women and families forming the collective Association of Parents of Disappeared People, a local NGO which tries to make the Indian state accountable for the forceful disappearance of several thousand Kashmiri men by the Indian army. Rollie documented their tireless struggle to find out the whereabouts of their family members in many of her paintings
